At some point, each one of us will find ourselves in the midst of a family crisis that threatens how we feel, how we are perceived, and how we perform at work. The author, an executive coach, conducted in-depth interviews with a number of her clients who have successfully navigated a variety of challenges ranging from children with mental health issues, the death of family members, and substance abuse. Her research revealed four effective tactics for managing the impact of a family crisis at work: managing the flow of information, clarifying your preferences and expectations, taking care of yourself daily, and finding strength in numbers.
