A very wise friend once told me, “Talking about parenting is like talking about politics.” She’s right.
Working Parents: Does Your Schedule Reflect Your Values?
Working parents are often pulled in different directions, and dealing with the expectations from both work and home, and the stress that come with them can be a struggle. To help with this, working parents need to develop a values-driven schedule — one that requires you to determine what is most important to you and your family, and then craft your calendar around those priorities, rather than fitting your family and yourself in around whatever might land on your schedule. This helps ensure that you can feel overall satisfied with your time and parenting choices.
There is a three-step process to create a values-driven schedule. First, get clear on what’s most important by listing what you want to include in your schedule and any regular rituals you need to include. Then, define why they’re important to you. Finally, fuse these priorities with your schedule by putting them as regular events in your calendar.
